MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) Filter Media is one of the best media for breaking down ammonia and nitrite. Great for use in DIY aquarium or pond filters. It works most efficiently in a fluidized application where an air pump is used to fluidize the media. A biofilm will develop on the surface of the media and start to break down ammonia & nitrite. In a fluidized filter, the media is self-cleaning and never needs to be replaced. As the media tumble inside the filter chamber and are bumping into each other constantly, detritus and dead bacteria are knocked off and never need cleaning. MBBR Media is also a great alternative to bio balls in a wet/dry filter.

• Large – 1” Diameter, 3/8” Height (larger physical size is great for larger filtration systems)
