This 1 gallon glass jar is used for safe storage of drinking water, as well as tea, juices, milk and other food and dairy storage applications. This 1 gallon glass jar also fits the Pure Water Mini Classic II Distiller Cabinet. The plastic flat lid allows for convenient storage and use. Most nutritionists recommend drinking water containers comprised of either glass or stainless steel for storing and consuming drinking water.
Simple reasons why glass is a better choice over plastic containers (PET, Nalgene, Lexan, HDPE):

1. Taste. Many plastics give off objectionable tastes.
2. Environmentally freindly. Plastic is a petroleum based non-renewable resource and does not biodegrade. Further, PVC manufacturing releases dioxins.
3. Plastic wears down and is subject to harboring bacteria.
