There are two things that need to be articulated here:
1. This is a water softener, but it is a whole lot more than that.

It’s a fact that you are seven or eight times more likely to have a floor or water damage in yourbusiness than you are to have it burglarized. Most businesses have security systems to prevent burglarybut have nothing to prevent floods or water damage. Each tank and tank size has a peak flow of 50 GPM, which means that its continuous flow is 25 GPM pertank. So, if you need 100 GPM Peak Flow, you would utilize three tanks. Why three (instead of two)? Eachtank monitors flow and water usage. When a tank is exhausted (time to regenerate), it immediately goesoff-line and regenerates. Its no-hard water bypass prevents untreated water from entering your site, andits built-in lock-out assures that only one tank can regenerate at a time.
This design assures you that the system can accommodate fluctuations in demand without bleeding any hardwater to service while conserving salt and water.
In periods of low flow, the Drop App automatically takes tanks offline, to prevent hardnessbleed-through from “channeling of the resin.” However, unlike most other systems, which always have onetank offline, the Drop system can have all tanks in service… except when one is regenerating, so thathigh flow rates are sustainable.
Bigger is not always better, but when in doubt, go bigger. The 18″ diameter tank has 5 cubic feet ofresin which is rated at 150,000 grains, while the 21″ diameter tank has 7 cubic feet of resin which israted at 210,000 grains (30,000 grains per cu/ft). Therefore, for the sake of comparison, let’s assumethat your water is 20 grains of hardness, here are your regeneration capacities:
Regardless of what your hardness is, you simply divide the grain capacity of the unit by thehardness to find the total number of gallons you will get between regenerations. The 6 or 8-poundeconomy settings are typically used in many applications such as hotels, restaurants, and somemanufacturing. However, for very soft water, you may want to use the 10-pound salt setting and forhigher-quality soft water, and the 15-pound setting is needed to eliminate virtually any hardnessleakage such as in boiler feed water.
